Introduces students to the content, purpose and objectives of the discipline stylistics of the English language. They are equipped with information about functional styles and stylistic techniques of the English language, teach them how to make a stylistic analysis of texts in English. This course is designed to form students’ knowledge of the basic concepts of Stylistics: stylistic functions, norms and methods; the main differential features of oral and written versions of literary English; classification of speech registers (functional styles) of the English language; the main functions and features of functional styles.

1 | 1. Get acquainted with phonetic, syntactic, lexical stylistic means and show their mutual differences; |
2 | 2. In the course of everyday interpersonal language communication in English, they practice the use of stylistic means and understand them; |
3 | 3. In connection with the use of stylistic operations in English-language literary works, they conduct a stylistic analysis of these works and learn to distinguish the functions performed by the identified stylistic operations; |
4 | 4. Compare phonetic, syntactic, lexical stylistic means in English and Kazakh and identify differences in the use of these stylistic means in English and Kazakh; |
5 | 5. Applies all the knowledge gained during the educational process of the discipline stylistics of the English language in the course of interpersonal language communication in English; |
6 | 6. Determines the functions of phonetic stylistic means in English in the course of language communication, and also reasonably uses phonetic stylistic means in English in his speech. |
