The Uyghur alphabet is a script used by ancient Uyghur tribes, originating from the Sogdian alphabet (1st century BC - 9th century AD). This type of writing, written from top to bottom with vertical letters from left to right, belongs to one of the Syriac-Aramaic alphabets. The Uyghur alphabet was later learned by other Turkish tribes (Naymans) that were learned by the Mongols. Average in the 13th and 14th centuries. Most of the Turkic-Mongol empires established in Asia used the Uyghur script. It was adopted by the Manchus with some changes in the 16th century. It is known that some people used the Uyghur script until the 18th century, and Yellow Uyghurs used it until the 19th century.
