The purpose of the subject is to teach the types of power stations, construction of power stations and substation devices, basic parameters, electrical drawings and structures of distribution devices, technological processes of electricity production. In addition, it considers methods of calculation of electrical installations, updated circuit elements of power stations and substations, automatic control system in power stations and substations.

Introduction to Electrical Engineering, Theoretical Foundations of Electrical Engineering II.

1Knows the principles of operation of power stations and substations, their main characteristics, the nature of physical phenomena occurring in different modes of operation.
2Knows the connection schemes of power stations and substations, can describe the processes taking place in them.
3Get acquainted with the construction of electrical station and substation devices.
4Knows the operating conditions of power stations, remembers the technical safety rules while working with them.
5Connects power stations and substations to the circuit and supervises their continuous operation.
6Knows how to calculate the physical and electrical characteristics of power stations and substations.
7Knows how to ensure the safety of operation of power stations and substations in production facilities.
8Learns to design energy-efficient electrical technological equipment, develop installations and complexes.

2Electric substations. Their types and main features. Electrical equipment and devices at power stations.
3Constructions of distribution devices - classification of distribution devices. Basic requirements. Placement of electrical technical devices in the territory of the power station.
4Conductors, insulators, cables - uninsulated solid conductors, flexible conductors.
5Disconnectors, load switches, fuses. Switching devices up to 1 kV.
6Voltage measuring transformers - basic concepts and definitions.
7Current limiting reactors. Construction of reactors.
8Power transformers. The main types of transformers, structural elements.
9Autotransformers. Nominal power and load capacity of transformers.
10Electrical drawings of stations, requirements for them.
11Drawings of transformer substations, requirements for them.
12Systems of self-requirements of power stations and substations.
13Control systems of power plants and substations.
14Control of switching devices in power stations and substations.
15Management of power stations and substation equipment.
