The subject aims to study the fundamentals of energy production, transmission and distribution, characteristics of electricity consumers, requirements for reliability of systems, switching and protection devices, equipment selection. The principles of calculating electrical loads at different voltage levels; methods of reactive power compensation, selection of power and measurement transformers, basics of creating one-line circuits are studied.

7Construction and working principle of power transformers. Load capacity of power transformers.
8Operating modes of transformers. Nominal operating mode of the transformer. Transformer idle mode.
9Tours of electrical appliances. Electrical devices used in installations with a voltage higher than 1000 V.
10Classification of switches. Requirements for high voltage circuit breakers.
11Types and function of separators. Separators. Their types and drives.
12Measuring devices: voltage transformer, current transformer.
13Current limiting devices: reactors, current limiting devices.
14Electrical devices used in installations with a voltage lower than 1000 V. Fuses.
15Types of tires. Power cables.
