The subject "Romance in English literature" is intended for the study of literary studies, cultural studies, philosophy and the history of Western Europe, continuing logical content-methodological connections with the history of previous periods of foreign literature. This subject acquaints undergraduates with important historical and literary phenomena, as well as general laws of the world literary process and national-historical, its development features. Mastering this subject is necessary not only for the study of history, but also for familiarization with other language subjects, in particular, English literature, literary theory, comparative literature, and others.
